Eastman invests in the circular recycling of polyester waste.

Eastman has announced the launch of a circular recycling technology that utilizes polyester waste. Currently, because mechanical methods are unable to recycle it, polyester waste typically ends up in landfills and waterways. Eastman’s circular recycling process employs methanolysis to break down polyester-based products into their polymeric building blocks. These building blocks are then reintroduced into the production of new polyester polymers; the resulting recycled polyester is suitable for a wide range of end markets, including food-contact applications.
